Rex Articoli Tecnici SA was founded in 1935 and has accumulated over 80 years of experience and know-how.  

Today REX is certified according to DIN ISO 9001/2008 and IRIS. REX is headquartered in Mendrisio, in the southern part of Switzerland, and is thus directly on the north-south axis connecting the industrial European cities of Zurich and Milan.

The manufacturing plant area is 12,000 m2 and currently employs over 100 highly qualified staff.


REX produces moulded articles out of nearly all elastomers by injection, transfer and compression moulding. Rubber to metal (rubber-metal) , rubber to fabric and rubber to plastic parts, silicone, polyurethane. TPE thermoplastic elastomers by multi-material injection moulding. Hard-soft-combinations. Moulded rubber parts for railway industry including various level-crossings.

Also in the field of rolling-stock different products are offered, including: torque arms, wheel dampers, roll-springs, bellows and many other products. (insulation, noise & vibration damping, protection from frost, etc))


Our modern laboratory is fully equipped for developing and analysing compounds and required testing of parts and Quality control. In addition simulations of applications with Finite Element Analysis and other techniques are used. In addition, Modelling is possible with Rapid Prototyping by Stereolithography and Silicone moulds. 

Production machines

REX boasts over 25 injection machines up to 4’000 KN and 6’000 cm³. Over 35 compression-machines with tables up of to 2’500 x 900 mm. Compounding & mixing machines. Machines for Cryogenic trimming and blasting as well as machinery for automatic pre-treatment of metals used for rubber to metal bonding.
