In Berlin at InnoTrans 2018, the Goldschmidt Thermit Group, based in Leipzig, Germany, will present the most extensive range of products in the company's history. The focus will be on the company's digitalization strategy which is designed to push the digital networking of equipment, processes and production results at construction sites and therefore achieves a substantial quality and productivity advantage for its customers. Visitors to InnoTrans will be able to view the respective products with networking capability and also inform themselves about the developments of GRAW, the measurement technology specialist based in Poland which joined the Goldschmidt Thermit Group in 2017. SRS Sjölanders, the Swedish technology leader for road-rail vehicles that joined the group two years ago, will also exhibit with the Goldschmidt Thermit Group for the first time.

The highlight at the stand of the Goldschmidt Thermit Group is the cloud-based database DARI®, Data Acquisition for Rail Infrastructure, an innovation which enables the comprehensive and automated documentation of welding and measurement processes and customized analysis of various data. Using the GOLDSCHMIDT DIGITAL APP, customers have access to all the mobile digital applications of the company. DARI® now integrates every process recorded by the app in the cloud, which represents a big leap forward for the control of the digital construction site.

“At InnoTrans customers will be able to experience the benefits which our digital products offer for their daily work. In the area of railway infrastructure we are systematically developing the digital construction site because we are convinced of the definite advantages this gives to our customers”, explains Dr. Hans-Jürgen Mundinger, CEO of the Goldschmidt Thermit Group. “Our new products are developed in Germany at our Technology Innovation Center in Leipzig. The motto "GOLDSCHMIDT GOES DIGITAL" is in line with the company’s strategy to offer our customers the best digital solutions. We will present these solutions at InnoTrans.”

DARI® integrates all the current product innovations of the Goldschmidt Thermit Group, including SMARTWELD JET for the automated preheating of the THERMIT® weld and SMARTWELD RECORD for the efficient documentation of the THERMIT® weld, and also measurement devices such as RAILSTRAIGHTS for the straightness measurement of running edges and surfaces, TRACKGAUGE DIGITAL, a digital gauge and superelevation device for track and switches, and also the TRACKSCAN COMPACT track geometry measurement system.

The new products which the company will present at InnoTrans also include the Rail Drill RD 330 B, a battery-powered rail drill which enables efficient and quick rail web drilling for flat bottom and grooved rails. The device is able to drill up to 100 holes with a single battery charge. The rail drill enables drilling of rails which is free of emissions and does not depend on fuel. The extremely low noise and vibration emissions make the RD 330 B one of the best machines available on the market. In addition, the device has a Bluetooth® interface for communication with the GOLDSCHMIDT DIGITAL APP. The Android application records machine data such as the number of drilled holes, GPS tracking, timestamp per drilled hole, motor temperature, battery status and machine operating hours. This ensures easy traceability and documentation of the work carried out. The data are directly uploaded to the DARI® database so they can be analyzed and made available at a global level.

With the RAILSHAPE PRO visitors to the trade fair will also be able to experience a further new product at InnoTrans. The latest grinding machine from the Goldschmidt Thermit Group enables the grinding of the running surfaces of rails, corrugation grinding and in particular the economic maintenance of locations with limited access such as switches in railway stations where larger machines cannot find application. The machine offers the best power-to-weight-ratio on the market and in combination with RAILSHAPE ECO and modern measurement technology offers an innovative and highly efficient grinding service performance. This enables the grinding and maintenance of complete rails, but especially also of switches.

GRAW, the newest member of the Goldschmidt Thermit Group, develops and produces intelligent, computer-controlled geometry measurement devices and systems for rails, switches, track and train wheels, and will exhibit these for the first time with the Goldschmidt Thermit Group. GRAW also develops real-time track condition evaluation systems for track geometry vehicles, stationary wheel geometry control systems and diagnostic databases for the planning of track maintenance and maintenance of rolling stock wheels. Furthermore, GRAW has extensive experience in the development of software for the quick analysis of measurement data and the processing, analysis and archiving of measurement data.

SRS Sjölanders will also exhibit for the first time with the Goldschmidt Thermit Group in Berlin. SRS Sjölanders joined the group in 2016. The Swedish company looks back on a company history of more than one hundred years and has extensive experience in the area of infrastructure for the railway industry. A core area of technical expertise of SRS Sjölanders is the patented road-rail system developed by the company with hydrostatic drive where there is no contact between the rubber wheels of the chassis and the rail running wheels. The vehicles can be placed on the track at their destination in a very short time and immediately start work. The design enables excellent performance with regard to safety, traction, track accuracy, brake power, speed and travel comfort. At InnoTrans SRS Sjölanders will present the latest generation of its road-rail vehicles.
