Product description

ERTMS is the combination of ETCS, the new control-command system and GSM-R, the new radio system for voice and data communication.

Together, they form ERTMS, the new signaling and management system for Europe, enabling interoperability throughout the European Rail Network.

The European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) is a major industrial project developed by six UNIFE members - Alstom Transport, Ansaldo STS, Bombardier Transportation, Invensys Rail Group, Siemens Mobility and Thales - in close cooperation with the European Union, railway stakeholders and the GSM-R industry.

ERTMS is rapidly becoming the major global signalling standard, according to statistics on ERTMS deployment released today by UNIFE – the Association of the European Rail Supply Industry.

Non-European countries account over 50% ERTMS invetments worldwide. This is a prove that ERTMS has now become the accepted global Automatic train Protection (ATP) standard.

Clear showcase for European technological excellence, with countries such as China, South Korea, India, Algeria or Saudi Arabia massively investing into this system.

The statistics released by UNIFE show that three non-EU countries - China, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are amongst the top five investors of ERTMS trackside equipment.

The ERTMS factsheets provide you with up-to date, factual and comprehensive information on ERTMS-related topics.
