Exhibitor profile

Australian Rail Industry - Offering the world innovative, flexible, reliable solutions

Whether for heavy haul and container freight rail, light rail, metro or high speed rail, densely populated urban environments or harsh, remote desert conditions, Australia’s rail industry offers innovative, efficient, robust and practical solutions to railways around the globe.

World-leading rail infrastructure and operations, and an industry led regulatory framework, have long underpinned Australia’s success in the resources and freight logistics industries, allowing the sector to operate efficiently and reliably as a major global competitor. Established partnerships between Australian resources and rail companies support the delivery and long-term sustainability of resources projects, which are often critical for national economic development and growth.

Australia has some of the heaviest and longest heavy haul trains in the world, and moves nearly 1 billion tonnes of freight. Australia is pioneering several world firsts, including remotely located train control centres and automated, driverless heavy haul trains.

Australia has developed unique expertise and technologies running the largest light rail network in the world for more than 90 years, and dealing with increasing urban passenger volumes of nearly 785 million journeys per year in 2012.

Australia can deliver state-of-the-art solutions for many aspects of a rail project – from regulations and standards, route planning, simulation modelling, design, construction and project management, technology, systems integration, operation, safety and maintenance through to training and research and development (R&D).
