We power your futureAnglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) is one of Europe’s leading medium speed (750-1000 RPM) diesel engine manufacturers in the 1.000 - 4.000 kW segment. Originally established in 1912 by a group of industrialists with participation of the inventor of the diesel engine, Rudolf Diesel himself, ABC can offer over a century of expertise in ship propulsion, locomotive traction and industrial power generating systems with focus on engineering and tailored solutions. Continued innovations have made ABC one of the important manufacturers of medium speed diesel engines, and its engineering department remains committed to develop more efficient engines delivering more power with less fuel consumption while significantly reducing emissions.
Within the vertically integrated Ogepar Group, a strong financial holding with a large base in metal industry and engineering, ABC can source their own engine blocks, castings, turbochargers and specialized engineering for complex projects, allowing higher control of costs, lead times and quality of components and engines. Sourcing for extra components is mainly done in European neighboring countries. The machining and assembly workshops also being located in the headquarters of Ghent (Belgium), ABC is a truly 100 % European independent engine manufacturer.
After the two World Wars ABC has experienced its biggest growth in the Marine industry where the engine’s reliability is crucial and the engine is the Heart of the application, just like in locomotives. Since 1960, the company is supplying diesel engines for locomotive traction application, both for shunting and main line service. With over 170 engines running in locomotives of the Belgian Railway company, and powering the German Voith Maxima 30CC and 40CC, the world’s largest diesel-hydraulic locomotive, the reliability, proven design and long lifetime of the ABC engines are always paramount. Recent investments in new production and testing workshops have increased the production capacity and with a product ideally suited to power or repower heavy duty locomotive application, ABC has been taking further steps towards the worldwide locomotive market.
Repowering with an ABC engine also offers an interesting alternative solution to expensive overhauling of a current engine for operators planning a second life for their heavy duty locomotives or dealing with the purchase of expensive and/or discontinued spare parts. Besides, the operator can enjoy the advantages of lower fuel consumption, complying with the emission standards, and easy and minimal maintenance which can be performed by the operator himself for the greater part, even in countries with challenging maintenance staff skills.
For larger maintenance and service operations ABC relies on their network of partners or on the after sales team who can be dispatched on site anywhere in the world. A large-scale stock of spare parts ensures that components can be delivered quickly to any location in the world. In addition, the after sales service offers tailored training programs for clients and new partners, according to specific requirements.
The key features of ABC’s DZC engine family are:
- Reliability – proven design – long lifetime
- Simple and robust design
- Attractive Life Cycle Costs
- Low fuel and lube oil consumption
- Endurance test certificate acc. UIC 623
In short, ABC engines are designed and built to be long lasting engines with a low life cycle cost.
